Spider-Who Part 42: Prince of Arachne/Spider-Knight/Camalot Spider-Man

Another Spider-Man from the Spider-Man Fairy Tales mini-series, this guy comes with a long list of names depending on where you look. The story of this Spider-Man is basically a twist on the Cinderella story, but it’s Peter who goes to the ball in disguise to try and win the heart of Princess Gwendolyn. The roll of the evil step parent is played by Norman Osborn who Peter went to live with when his father and uncle died in battle.

Peter hears of a grand ball where the princess will choose a husband of the knights who attend. Even though the Parker family was known as a great house, Osborn has basically tried to keep Peter down by only having him clean the house and he is now unknown. Peter sneaks off in his spare time and makes his own suit of armour, and when the night of the ball arrives, he attends, presenting himself as The Prince of Arachne. He impresses the princess and they dance all night. Gwendolyn decides she will marry this mystery knight, but when the clock strikes midnight, Peter realizes he needs to be home before he’s found missing and he dashes off, leaving his brassard in Gwendolyn’s hands when she grabs at his arm. Norman Osborn and his son Harry decided they should find this “Prince-Spider”, kill him, and have Harry pose as this Prince since no one knows who he is.

Needless to say, identities are revealed, truths come out, battles are fought, and people die. Tragically, Princess Gwendolyn dies while saving Peter’s life. Peter is knighted in the end, becoming Sir Peter Parker, his family name made proud once more. As far as I know, this Peter Parker is simply a man with the skills of a trained knight. No super powers here.
