Spider-Who Part 73: Powerless Peter Parker

Now this isn’t just me listing out “Here’s a Peter Parker that nothing happened to haha” as an extra entry. Bear with me. This is the Peter Parker from the comic series entitled Powerless. It poses the question of what if there was a Marvel Universe in which events of how people got their powers still occurred, but instead of getting fantastic super powers, things turned out a bit more realistically? In this instance, when Peter Parker is bitten by an irradiated spider, he suffers from not only the spider venom, but severe radiation poisoning and sickness. The two issues combine so that his right arm atrophies and never heals. Peter goes to a psychiatrist to deal with what happened to his arm, the loss of his parents, and the recent murder of his Uncle Ben.

But the story doesn’t end there! Peter goes on in life, studying his hardest, and gets an internship at Stark Industries, even helping on the “Iron Man” project of Tony Stark’s. Norman Osborn, knowing that his son Harry is friends with Peter, attempts to get Peter to give him information on the Stark Industries “Iron Man” project. You see, Norman is in direct competition with Stark Industries for a government military contract. When Peter refuses, Norman eventually resorts to threats, spying on Peter, and even kidnaps Peter’s close friend Gwen Stacey to try and force Peter to give him what he wants.

Peter goes to Oscorp with the Stark documents Norman wanted and finds Norman with the captive Gwen. After some words, Peter throws the documents out a window, and as Norman desperately reaches for them, he reaches too far and falls out with Gwen. Peter manages to grab Gwen with his bad arm, and still manages to pull her to safety while Norman meets his end on the pavement below.
